Is there a name for Harry Potter-type decorating style?
I love the look that shows up in many movies, whenever they try to portray a room belonging to a crazy professor or magical wizzard. Generally it's full of leather books, dark wood or gothic stone, and full of Shiny Brass objects,(astrolabes, orreries, armillary sphers) or collections of "mystical" objects, sometimes in display cases. Generally speaking, it's a kind of distracted style, and a bit messy, but an educated messy, if there is such a thing. It's almost like an enlarged cabinet of curiosities. Is there any decorating style that includes this type of design? Another example is the herpetologist's house in Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events.
