1- Provides support for the cell and its component inside it.
2- It protects the cell, it is rigid and not flexible.
3- Often gives shape for the cell.
4= It acts as a filtering mechanism.
5- Also, acts as a pressure vessel, preventing over expansion when water enters the cell.
6- It is semi-permeable and permit the passage of small molecules and small proteins.
